Yoni Alter is a multimedia artist exploring the threshold between art and design. His vibrantly coloured works segue between the figurative, the abstract, form, and space, always challenging viewers to look twice. Guided by experimentation and semiotics, Yoni passionately seeks new ways of creating visual representations, working across sculpture, painting, print, and digital media. Alter’s work can be seen in galleries, private collections and in the public realm. Some of Alter’s collaborations include projects with Tate, MoMA, Karl Lagerfeld and Hermes.
As an artist inspired by pop culture and fascinated by the possibilities of web3, I’ve been watching the NFT space with interest. I discovered Jack Butcher’s Checks: a project that brought highbrow concepts, cool design and addictive gameplay together in a totally new way. In short, Checks inspired me to start creating NFT collections of my own, so I want to acknowledge that with Checksons: a tribute to Checks.
Checksons is a free mint, tribute NFT collection created exclusively for the Checks community. To be eligible for a Checkson, you need to have at least one Checks Original NFT in your wallet.
When you claim a Checkson, you have the freedom to customize it according to your preferences. You can choose the jacket that the Checkson will wear and select the music it will dance to.
Additionally, the background colors of your Checkson will change based on the colors of the Checks Original NFT it is being claimed for. For example, if you claim a Checkson for a Checks Original NFT that has four Checks in the colors yellow, red, green, and blue, the background of the Checkson will alternate through these exact same colors. This is accomplished just through complex smart contract code in a decentralized manner.
This is purely a tribute project, and we believe it should be up to the community to decide its future. After all, Checks Originals came into existence because the community inspired Jack to create them. If we receive a significant response, we will be more than happy to further develop the Checksons in a manner that is (hopefully) as enjoyable, engaging, and transparent as Checks is. We might explore options like a burn-and-mint process, but at this point, we are unsure. On the other hand, if the response is slow and the journey of the Checksons ends here, that's perfectly fine too. Our team has been working diligently, and we are already on the verge of announcing our first Original Yoni Alter Art NFT collection. Stay tuned for more updates!
